Live-in care can also be provided on a temporary basis, for instance if an otherwise active client needs help at home while recuperating after having surgery.

The caregiver although a live-in caregiver still maintains her own residence, where she goes whenever she wants a break or a vacation. Although a great economical alternative, not every client is a live-in candidate. For instance, the client that has dementia or some other ailment that keeps him up at night, will not benefit from this type of service, because the caregiver needs to be alert at all times to care for the needs of the client.
